Amongst the madness of the pre prep to the wedding, I have made time in my schedule for some really special things one of which at the top of my list was a bridal consultation at Jo Malone on Regent Street. I feel like I have been banging on about the bridal thing for a while now, so I’d like to think that this experience I’m sharing on the blog today can really be for any special occasion, whether it’s a birthday or, just to treat yourself and scent your home in general ‘Just Because’ (the ongoing brand moto by Jo Malone which I love).
Starting to really feel like a bride, we began the consultation with expert Emma who not only knows all the notes of every scent Jo Malone has, but feels truly passionate about which is so apparent in her enthusiasm. We spoke about my wedding venue, my general likes and dislikes when it comes to smells and by the end had chosen a mix of scents for all of my wedding events which is three in total. Sounds mental but for an Indian wedding it’s fairly low key (I promise) just how I wanted it.
After the civil ceremony in London we scented the private dining room at my favourite Italian Daphnes for lunch with Cardamom and Mimosa which is still one of my favourites. It’s really amazing how a scent can capture a moment of time and be reminiscent of special moments forever. The cardamom in the scent holds that essence of spice which for me ties the India wedding into the picture, together with Mimosa adding a sweet touch whilst holding onto it’s luxurious depth; just divine!I chose Cardamom and Mimosa for the base scent throughout the wedding where I’ll use body wash and cream to get started, then layer on the fragrance along with mixing it with others. Pairing them together is such a gorgeous way of reinventing a scent, one of my favourite elements to Jo Malone. We talked about the colours of my outfits along with opulence of palatial venue in India to really nail those scents down and match the tone of each event. The Mehndi & Sangeet night, the Wedding Ceremony during the day followed by the Wedding Reception aka PARTY.
Without giving too much away about the outfit choices even though they had so much to do with my chosen scents, this is what I went for per occasion:
The Sangeet (A traditional night of music and dance to kick start the celebrations)
Traditional spice with the Cardamom and Mimosa, along with opulent suede with my favourite floral in Peony and Blush Suede.
The Wedding Ceremony
Earl Grey & Cucumber which is the hint of British as that’s integral to who we are as a wedding party.
The Reception
Finishing off with Dark Amber and Lily and Tuberose Angelica which is a bit sexier, super luxurious for when we’re ready to feast and dance the night away.
Whether it’s ‘scenting your wedding’ or any special soiree you might have coming or ‘Just Because’, I couldn’t recommend this experience at Jo Malone more. What’s your favourite Jo Malone scent? I’d love to hear your comments below.
