It’s taken me some time to adjust to a different type of denim. Whether it’s body shape or height summer denim culottes seem to have escaped becoming a staple part of my wardrobe. After coming across these denim culotte jeans from Citizens of Humanity, I think it’s the crop that makes them confidently wearable.
I’m all over the seventies trend this summer, perhaps prevailing from last years surge of references from brands like Chloe, Gucci, Stella McCartney and of course the Man Repeller doing it for a while. Having been into many changing rooms giving these a go, I have finally found the perfect trick to styling them for myself. The answer: wearing them with a little bit of a heel. In this case, a super cool summer wedges by Chloe that I picked up from Bicester Village recently (for a bloody bargain). The top is by a brand called Wilfred which I got really cool American boutique called Aritzia which stock great quality yet simplistic pieces. I’m always searching for a perfect black tank top that’s a great staple for smart, casual or more dressing in the evenings. My lovely blush pink Celine trio is getting some great wear as it’s the perfect bag to brighten up a muted outfit. I’m all about a splash of colour if you can.
Not long ago I did a blog post wearing jeans from Citizens of Humanity, which a lot of people seemed to like. Finally I am becoming more comfortable with styling them into my everyday wardrobe. I spend the majority of my 20s growing up wearing skinny jeans so it’s taken a while to adjust. As mentioned above; Man Repeller, explanatory by name, wears them in her stride. Most girls in their 20s if they are anything like myself especially if you are single, naturally veer to wearing things that compliment your curves. But putting it quite frankly and perhaps having been subliminally influenced via Man Repeller and the rest, I seem to be way less bothered about impressing men or my fellow gals, and feel quite up for a change of denim scenery in my wardrobe – thanks Citizens of Humanity for the perfect fit! I surprisingly still feel a bit sexy too, not too sure whether my man agrees. / Full credits and shopping links below. x
